McHenry County Federal Credit Union was formed in 1961 as McHenry County Schools FCU when 16 employees of school district 200 deposited $5.00 each. This money was then loaned out to coworkers at a nominal interest rate. This basic principal of the credit union movement, to “promote thrift and make loans for provident and productive purposes”, remains the cornerstone of McHenry County FCU today. Over the years the membership has grown to over 5,500 members throughout McHenry County.
Financial Stability
Our financial history indicates that we have never operated at a financial loss nor have we ever failed to pay a dividend obligation.
Service
The main office located at 327 E. Jackson St. has been our home since 1977. Before that the office was located at 117 W. Calhoun. In June 1999, the credit union opened it's second office in Crystal Lake. We also have a toll free line where members can obtain their latest share balances or make transfers from one account to another. In 2002, member account information was delivered directly to their homes via internet access to our Home Banking web site.
