Concerned about making transactions over the Internet with your Credit Union Visa Debit Card. This new program adds additional security to your transactions and will be Required to protect your rights to dispute future un-authorized internet transactions.
In an effort to increase the use of Visa Debit cards for internet purchases and insure the identity of the account holder, Visa has put in place a new program. Cardholders are urged to register their cards with Visa.
This information is then Verified with the issuers processor and after verified, the cardholder is prompted to enter a Password and Hint information for the card number entered.
When you use the card number to purchase goods from an internet merchant that uses Verified by Visa, you will be prompted to enter the password for the card. If the password is correct, the merchant will receive an approval code and your transaction will continue. If the password is incorrect, the merchant will receive a decline code and the transaction will be stopped.
Effective April 2003 you, the Cardholder, WILL NOT be able to dispute a charge made at an on-line merchant that uses the Verified by Visa system as an Un-Authorized transaction. The ONLY way to protect all of your rights to dispute a charge is to register for the Verified by Visa program.
